Welcome Team!

Hello Team -
Nice to virtually meet you. I decided to change it up a bit this season and mentor for the tri team. I've been with Team in Training (East Bay Run) for 6 seasons! Mentoring for 5 of the 6. Yes, I'm a bit crazy. But so are you if you're reading this :) Wildflower is a very rewarding triathlon. I've done it twice. Once over 9 years ago and then again in 2009. I improved my time by about an hour!! Only because I had the training techniques and knowledge of TNT under my belt...err swim cap :)

I look forward to seeing you all at kick-off - January 29th at the Marriott in Downtown Oakland.

If you have any questions before, during or after don't hesitate to contact me.

Amy
ps. please don't turn me into Brightroom...

Team MOTO - Week 1

ahhh. 5:50 am Track workout. Gotta love it. I'm the one on the left getting the benefits of Coach Al's stretching before our hour long workout. I thought I'd post this to inspire me to go tomorrow :)

It's Official

Coach Al officially named the team at Kick-Off. This is the fastest he's ever came up with our battle cry. My favorite will always be Team "Do the Damn Thing" ... but Moto sounds cool :) It's short for "Motivational"
Yeah for "Team Moto". Can't wait to see everyone in their running shoes.

WHERE HAVE I BEEN!?

Well. It's been 2 years since I've mentored for Team in Training. I'm back for the Nike FULL 2010. I'm super excited and can't wait to start training with my team cuz everyone knows that the East Bay Rocks. Here's a few pics of the year(s) in review of my and my EBG's gettin our race on. (EBG's stands for East Bay Girls!)

I'm most proud of my Wildflower Triathlon improvement. I did save quite a bit of time because I wasn't busy posing for pics but I am quite more the "athlete" now than I was 8 years ago. Hugs & kisses to Mary Beth for getting me started on this new way of life!

You'll be hearing more from me sooner than later. Thanks for checking in! Don't forget to donate to my cause to raise $3,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. You won't regret it.

Coached Run

The summer season has officially started! We had a large group but not everyone was there...hint hint...to my mentees! I did see Erin, Sarah (pictured) & May! Great job to you all. It was a beautiful day and everyone did a fabulous job. I'll see many of you this Tuesday for our first buddy run at the Berkeley Marina. Go Team!

TNT : Summer 08 : Team Blaze

I've done it once again! I'll be mentoring for my 4th? time this summer for Team Blaze. We will be training for the Nike Woman's 1/2 and full marathon. I've run the full once and the half twice..now what am I going to do? I've met several of my mentees already and they all seem wonderful and very excited to start training. Check back often as I'll be putting up more posts for the season. I'll also be fundraising with my mentees so check back to donate for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society mission to cure cancer.(ps: Don't try burning your sneakers to get out of the 5:50 am track workout...even if they are as ugly as these Air Jordans...not a smart idea)

Girls gone Wildflower

Three cheers to my girls; Odessa, Michelle & Meg who successfully completed their first olympic distance triathlon. I was very proud spectator! I had to miss all the fun since I was busy being "Hollywood" during training season. The movie better be good because I was quite sad not to race with them. They kicked ass! And I smashed the shit out of this watermelon right after this shot.

NY Marathon 07

The most fun I've had running 26.2 miles. I highly recommend this marathon to anyone trying to decide which one to do. Be prepared though and take a sleeping bag and very warm clothes to the start. We waited over 4 hours lying on cardboard inside trash bags before the race started...not fun! I couldn't wait to run once that was over with. So many runners, so much support and cheering. I'd do it all over again. Not to mention I had my PR at this race! woo hoo.

the swag, the shuz

I almost forgot! Our tiffany necklace medal. They are getting better. I'm still bummed I missed the first one...it was the best design by far. SImple circle with just the numbers 13.1 or 26.2. oh well. I could always get it on ebay. Just kidding.

Secondly...after my disappointing response from Saucony about when they were going to release the bejeweled version of the hurricane. Answer : never. I took it upon myself to add some sparklys to my shoes. Everything is better when it glitters..including running. Maybe that's why I was under a 10min mile pace? Who Knows.

Nike Women's Marathon 07

Congratulations to all my Mentees who Did The Damn Thing. I am very proud of you. Yvonne- I couldn't find you since you were running under an alter ego! : ) It was an absolutely GORGEOUS day. I loved hearing everyone oooh and ahhh over the beauty of the city. When it came time to come down the hill toward Ocean Beach there was a collective sigh at how stunning it looked. Made us all forget all those damn hills for a second.

There is no doubting it...this is a hard race. I am SO glad that me and the girls have decided only to run the half..ahhh bless you. Ian and I started together but I quickly made him go on his own as I could tell I was holding him back a bit. The girls decided that we would all run this race for ourselves : ( no more holding hands through the finish lines. We've matured and are ready to battle our own records. I did miss them during those long ass hills I have to say. We all DEEPLY miss MEG!!! Shout out to Meg! It's not the same without you sweetheart. WE LOVE YOU!!

When it came to the 1/2 vs full marathon split I smiled to myself that I was almost done yet reminding myself that in a weeks time I will need to be doing a full. Bummer.
I finished strong and was "pleased" with my time. Official clock says 2:10 ...my watch minus 2 pee breaks was 2:05...My pace was 9:56 which is pretty good. I'm definitely improving. Someday I'll come in under 2 hours. I'll just have to keep doing TEAM!
